About Robert
Robert Ashman runs Iyengar Cambridge Yoga. Robert began practicing Yoga in Cambridge in 1999 after suffering from backache due to his work as a landscape gardener.
Roberts’s first teacher was Janet Tournier Downs, who was one of B.K.S. Iyengar’s early U.K students. She encouraged him to do his teacher training under the senior Iyengar teacher and moderator, Sasha Perryman.
Robert finished his Introductory Level 1 and 2 training in 2005. He became a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. Then in 2016, he completed his Intermediate Junior Level 1 certificate and his Junior intermediate 2 in 2019.
Sasha continues to be his regular teacher and mentor.
Robert has also furthered his studies with various visits to India.
In India, studied under the esteemed supervision of Mr. and Mrs Chanchani at the Yog-Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies in Dehradun. By regularly attending professional development workshops with senior Iyengar teachers in the U.K. to further his knowledge of yoga.
Robert gains great satisfaction from teaching his students, especially when he can see the change and progression as they learn.
